THUSDAY
“Good morning, Kaoru!” Shinya smiled.
“Morning, Shinya.”
“Did you hear anything from Die yesterday?”
“Nope, not a single one.” Although Kaoru was very serious that morning, Shinya knew that he wasn’t mad.
Both men went inside the building to set their instruments. Once inside, familiar voices reached both men’s ears.
“I’m telling you that gremlins do exist, trust me on this one.”
“But Shinya said that gremlins don’t exist.”
“Duh!” Kyo spanked Toshiya, “Of course they do exist, and the proof of it is Kaoru. He is one of them and they are trying to rule us all.”
“No way! You are kidding me, Kyo!”
“Nope. I have no reason to lie to you, my dear friend. But hey, that’s why I obey Kaoru in everything he asks me to do; I don’t want him to use his… his… Light Magical Beam of Destruction on me,” Kyo coughed.
“Oh my God! I don’t want him to use it on me either.”
“And Shinya is helping him, so be careful with that …fairy…”
“Is Shinya a real fairy?”
“Yeah, that is why she or he is beautiful”
“So that’s why Shinya is beautiful?”
“Yeah…”
“Wow! Now I get it. Thanks, Kyo, I’ll be careful.”
All that dialogue was heard by Shinya, who already had his angry look, and Kaoru, who found the story fascinating.
Kyo opened the door very slow while he answered Totchi.“Any time my dear fellow.” Kyo’s voice was very serious, he wanted to laugh though. “Just don’t say anything to them, or they’ll kill us, just like they killed Di...e…” Kyo suddenly shut his mouth as the first things he saw were Kaoru and Shinya.
“Kaoru! My leader-sama! Shin-chan! Good morning! How are you guys??” Kyo immediately smiled trying to look cool, pretending nothing had just happened.
“We are good, aren’t we Shinya?” Kaoru answered before Shinya could even complain.
“Good? What are you…?” Shinya looked at Kaoru not understanding what was going on. But after Kaoru looked at him, Shinya decided to leave the situation on Kaoru’s hands, and complied “Hmm, yeah… we are ok, thanks.”
Toshiya got in the room right after Kyo, but with a weird look, also moving slowly, like he didn’t want to get any attention. Instead of what he wanted, he got more attention than before.
“Hi, Toshiya.”
Trying to hide himself behind Kyo, Toshiya waved his hand like saying hello to Kaoru, and looking away avoiding any eye contact with Kaoru or Shinya.
“Are you ok Toshiya?”
“Yes, Kao, I’m just…I don’t know… tired, I guess.”
“Then, why are you hiding behind Kyo’s back?”
“I am not.”
“Yes, you are.”
“I’m not hiding…”
“Then??”
“I’m protecting myself against the Light Magical Beam of Destruction you might use on me, you…you…Gremlin!” Toshiya yelled from behind Kyo’s back.
Kyo burst out laughing as well as Kaoru.
Toshiya misunderstanding the whole situation looked at Shinya and pointed him “And don’t even try to help him with your magic or your weird dusts, Shinya The Fairy”
“Hey, that’s a cool nickname” Kyo spoke his mind.
“Are you serious Toshiya?” Shinya was surprised.
“Yeah! Kyo explained me everything about you two and how you killed Die” Toshiya covered his face and started to cry.
“We didn’t kill Die, it would be a pleasure though…”
“Yes you did, Kaoru, or should I call you Mr. “G”?” Toshiya kneeled on the floor, crying like a baby, at the same time that Kyo was rolling on the floor laughing and grabbing his stomach.
“Totchi, if we have killed Die, why I have been worried about Die yesterday?”
“Well, yeah. Kaoru is right Totchi, we didn’t kill die. We are neither murders, nor gremlins, nor fairies. Kyo lied to you again.”
Toshiya wiped his tears, and sat on the floor while Kyo was still laughing at him.
Kaoru gave Toshiya a hand to help him to stand up. Once Toshiya stopped crying and Kyo stopped laughing at him, Kaoru noticed a weird feeling inside his belly, again. Die wasn’t there that day either.
“Come on, it was funny.” Kyo smile to Totchi, who was very offended. “Even Shinya and Kaoru laughed.”
“I didn’t laugh, I don’t like when you fool Toshiya like that, Kyo.”
“Well yeah… and here we go again,” said Kyo, wearing his most dramatic face. “Once again, everything I do is wrong to you guys. It doesn’t matter if all that I do is for you guys, you just don’t care and put the blame on me for everything.”
“Kyo, you are such a drama queen! Don’t play the victim.”
“Yeah, but you like me like that, don’t you Shin-chan?”
“Of course not. I don’t like you at all Kyo, and don’t use that annoying tone of voice on me; you know I hate it.”
“Shhh! Don’t try to hide it, you like me.”
“No, I don’t.”
“That’s not what you said last night, my love.”
“What the hell are you talking about Tooru?” Shinya spouted angrily.
Kyo laughed again, and started pocking Shinya. Toshiya laughed too, but then he saw Kaoru looking at the window again, like the last day. Toshiya walked to Kaoru to ask the old man what was going on.
“You know, I guess Die is not coming today either.”
“Oh, I see.”
“Well, let’s wait for about 10 more minutes. Then I’ll decide what to do.”
“Don’t worry Kaoru, he is fine.”
“I’m not worried, I am angry.”
“Anyway, I think he is ok.”
“I hope so, because he won’t be once I find him.”
“Leader-sama don’t be mad at him.”
“I think I’m going to his house today, to see what is going on.”
“Yeah, you should do that and please let me know anything, okay?”
“For sure Totchi.”

On the other side of the room the other two men were fighting.
“Okay, okay, I’ll leave you alone this time, only if you put me down Shinya.”
“Fine, but be good this time.”
“Well, okay,” Kyo said rubbing his throat.

After some time, Kyo started his endlessly complaining about Die’s tardiness. “What time is it Shinya?” Kyo raised his voice enough to be heard by Kaoru and Totchi.
“11:50…”
“Really Shin-chan? I can’t believe you.”
“Well, then you can check yourself. There’s the clock right there on the wall behind your back.”
Kyo turned to see at the same time that Totchi and Kaoru check by themselves too.
“You are right Shin-chan. It’s getting late again.”
“Kyo, shut up.”
“Don’t you see we are waiting for Daisuke?” The voice of Toshiya reached the two guys on the other side of the room.
“I see, my beloved friend. So you are saying that we are here wasting our time, missing life experiences, losing sleep hours, not enjoying the beautiful sun, getting older, meeting our firsts wrinkles, while that Red head it’s outside having the ball? Living for all of us? Is that what you said?”
“No, what I said…”
“Let’s start the practice.” Kaoru grabbed his guitar and prepare himself to play.
“Is Die coming?”
“No, he is not Shin-chan, so let’s start it then.”
“Yeah, but what about Die’s guitar parts?”
“I’ll play them if I can, ok? We can do this with or without him.” Kaoru smiled to Shinya to make him feel comfortable “Are you guys ready?” asked looking the other two.
“Yeah. However, I’ve always said: One guitarist is better than two. And also a four-member band is better than a five-member band. You know more space, more freedom, less burdens. And I don’t know you guys, but for me, our Leader-sama is enough for this band. I don’t like how that weirdo plays, not even his ideas.”
“Okay, okay, we’ve got your point Kyo. But since the very beginning we were five, we’re still five, and will be five, or we won’t be.”
With those last words from Kaoru, everyone shut and started practicing to warm their skills. Kaoru played scales, Shinya just some catchy rhythm, Kyo played with his voice a bit, and Toshiya played a warming exercise.
“Right, it seems like we are ready guys. So let’s start with something smooth. I don’t know something old.” Kaoru said when he saw everyone was ready.
“Die” Kyo answered.
“Die what?
“Die is old”
“I’m older than him, Kyo” Kaoru replied looking at him exacerbated.
“Well, yeah. The thing is that I don’t like Die”
“And what does it has to do with what song we are practicing?”
“Nothing”
“Then…?” Kaoru asked desperate.
“Then what?”
“Exactly. Shut up Kyo, and let’s play Raison D’etre.” The rest of the guys nodded and prepared themselves to play.
“This song is for Die from our leader-sama” Once Kyo said that, he started to sing.

The whole practice went great. Kaoru played all Die’s parts that he could. “That felt good” Toshiya stated after he put his bass in his basses’ rack.
“Yeah Totchi, it was good” stated Shinya while stretching his arms.
“Aha, because we could play without Die” Kyo rose his voice so everyone could hear him.
“Kyo, don’t start again, please”
“Or what Shinya?”
“Or I’ll make you”
“Can’t wait blonde” Kyo sneered glaring Shinya with evil eyes.
“Don’t call me like that”
“But you are blonde Shin, you silly” Toshiya joined the conversation, placing himself in the nearest coach he found.
“Thanks for helping me, Toshiya”
The room burst in laughs.
Kaoru got close to them to say bye to all, and reminded them of tomorrow’s practice. Right after that, he left.
“I think he is worried,” spoke Shinya while packing his things up.
“Nah, he is angry,” replied Totchi.
“I’m mad too” Kyo nagged, walking around Shinya.
“But you are always mad, Kyo”
Kyo rolled his eyes and punched Toshiya’s right arm for what he said.
Shinya smiled and then he stood from his chair. “Got to go guys, see you tomorrow”
Kyo and Toshiya both said Bye to Shinya. Immediately Shinya left the room.
“Let’s go Kyo.” Kyo just smiled looking Toshiya right in the eyes. “Want some pizza, Kyo?”
“Hell yeah, I am so starved that I would eat Shinya”
Toshiya touched his chin acting like he was considering the possibility of Kyo eating Shinya. “Funny Kyo, it wouldn’t help your hungry though, you know… since he is so skinny.”
Laughing, Kyo grabbed his stomach, and both men left the studio to go to have lunch.
