Okay, so . . .

resk, you were right.* Ghost Rider was ridiculously bad. Surprisingly, Nicolas Cage was the lone palatable part. Donal Logue was miscast. Sam Elliott was mailing it in.** The script was bad. The editing was horrendous. The special effects weren't actually all that bad. Hmm. Peter Fonda! WTF, my friend. Being in a bad movie? ( Read more... )

I've always liked Nicolas Cage. I know that puts me in a distinct minority here on LJ.

Good movies featuring Sam Elliott:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) .... Card player #2
Mask (1985) .... Gar
Rush (1991) .... Dodd
Tombstone (1993) .... Virgil Earp (Yeah, it's cheesey. But Val Kilmer!)
The Big Lebowski (1998) .... The Stranger
Thank You for Smoking (2005) .... Lorne Lutch

I was responding to this statement:

Which brings to light the question of what he's ever been in that was good.

Not "what he's ever been good in."

Just sayin'.

You two should be ashamed of yourselves. Firstly, Nicholas Cage is a twat. Secondly, Sam Elliott is ace.

I told you, I'm always right.

And I didn't even TELL you what I think of Eva Mendes. I just knew I was so right I didn't even have to say it.

Just wanted to make it understood that I acknowledge the gross lack of intelligence contained in my previous statement. In fairness to, umm, me, I thought she and Jennifer Esposito (who I thought was decent in Don't Say A Word) were one in the same. They're apparently not and Eva Mendes (apart from the growling tiger claw motion scene which was literally the high point of the entire thing) was beyond dreadful. I cannot emphasize this enough.

The Real McCoy? That's a bit harsh, considering.
