 I went to the Goetheplatz Theatre a few days ago and saw Salome, an opera by Strauss adapted from the Oscar Wilde play.  Now, maybe some words that come to you mind when you think of the opera are "boring", "posh" and "loud noises"... but did you know that opera can also be art deco?  I will now describe to you what was a very strange opera indeed ( Read more... )

If you are truly, truly honest with yourself, you will understand that no opera will ever be quite as good as the 'other' opera you have seen. I mean, live unicorns and everything? absolutely no opera could match up.

You have a very good point. That opera was the shit. I miss going to those Humanities College trips to NYC. Remember when we ate at the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde restaurant? Or... was that it's name? And I got all freaked out in the beginning?

Um...ok...

I do miss those. And that really was a wonderful opera. I've never seen another but I really can't imagine that others would be as good. I mean I guess they could. But that just blew me out of the water. I also really liked the song that the orchestra played each act before they played the other songs, though it's kind of weird and formless.
