This is more of what I am calling the intelligence gap in the US. Those that take apon in on ourselves to get our news and those that simply want it spoon fed to them. I think this is why the bloggers are begining to take a strong foothold in the democratic party.

I think bloggers are taking a strong foothold everywhere, not just in the Democratic Party. There certainly are plenty of right-wing bloggers, though it's often said that the right wingers prefer talk radio over the written word.

In any event, regardless of the bloggers' views, it's definitely heartening to see a whole new alternative to the now totally centralized and corporatized main stream media. Whether individuals take advantage of it to set the national agenda independently of the politicians and mainstream media is still an open question.
