hungry and hollow for all the things you took away

For the thirty thousand millionth time or so, the (former) Lieutenant walks along the beach, looking for a way off this crazy island.

"Beebending," he spits, shaking his head.

For once, he's alone out here. No magicians, no psychics, no "heroes" in eye-searingly bright, skintight garments, no grey kids with horns. No damned beebenders, and today ( Read more... )

Noatak's head snaps to the doorway as someone approaches--he didn't even notice their heartbeat, pull yourself together--

He bloodbends them, drags them into the room, he'd have to manipulate them to carry him out, and--

Noatak's eyes widen, and the man falls.

"Lieutenant."

"Ow." It's okay, his face broke his fall.

Twitching, ignoring the burning in his veins, he hoists himself to his feet, and fiddles with his shirt sleeves to avoid looking at Amon as he calculates how quickly he can get to the cabinet where he hid his kali sticks, just in case. "You're awake," he mumbles, unnecessarily.

Hell. Does he still want to kill him? He's in no position to defend himself, without bloodbending--

Did he--someone must have found him after the explosion, he must have--

"Is Tarrlok..?"

He sidles/slides along the wall until he reaches a chair, because bloodbending hurts like a bitch and he'd like to sit down now, thanks. Or lie down, but Amon's been hogging his bed the last few weeks. (And if it puts him in easy reach of a weapon, so much the better.)

"Tarrlok? No sign of him." The cell had been empty... The Lieutenant secretly suspects the Avatar let him out, because where else would she have learned the things she did? He slumps down in his seat, resting his arms on his knees and watching Amon through narrowed eyes.

Noatak takes a shuddering breath.

Why was he the one to survive--

"Where am I?" he asks, hoarsely.

And it's beginning to sink in that he's used bloodbending on the Lieutenant, and not for the first time. He can't think about that, not now.
