Random thoughts and various insights

Thought I'd write a post with a variety of not-necessarily-related bits. I don't have the internet at home anymore (which is more freeing and less annoying that I thought it would be...also cheaper), so the only time I can check email, etc. is at work or if I go to the library. Hence, I don't have a lot of time for writing in LJ. But today is a ( Read more... )

Geez, I hate no idea that your time in Ashland was so crazy, for lack of a better word! But that's awesome news about maybe buying a condo! That'd be great. Are prices in SD down? Or does it have a fairly stable real estate market?

And, oh, hippies! How I adore thee. Or not. You want to see REAL hippies? Okay, I grew up on Vancouver Island, which is really big, and we had our fair share of hippies, but all around the island are all these other teeny islands where God's True Hippies live. They are filthy. They do not wash. They do not wear shoes. The children are naked. Once, we were camping on Denman Island, and went by the local co-op (I also didn't know co-ops weren't commons things until I was in my 20's.) and saw three people sitting on the steps picking lice out of each other's hair. *shudder* And that's a "populated" island! We've got all these crazy draft-dodger nutty hippies god knows where!

Oh AND! I'm leaving for Newport on April 26th, and we'll probably be down there until May 10th-ish! Hopefully you'll be around!! :)

WooHooooo! Newport Beach, right? We'll figure out a weekend day that I can drive up. Can't wait to see you!

Ashland was a Twilight Zone-y bizarre experience. I can't call it a nightmare anymore because I really learned a lot of valuable lessons. But man, it was hard. I'd like to be able to go back more prepared and just enjoy the weirdness and beauty of it, rather than try to make friends.

Prices in San Diego have dropped by about 50% since the high time. But most of that was the result of bad loans. Because it's such a desirable place to live, I expect the market will go up again, though not to its peak any time soon. So I think now is a really good time to get in.

Hippies are weird, yo, and surprisingly judgmental. You'd think they'd be really tolerant, but they're actually very rigid in their hippie ways and beliefs.

Well I love the condo news. I would say as a person who did the opposite (its ok cause ive got jeremy but...) that its a good idea to get a mortgage payment you are comfortable with, not the max you can pay and not die, but like something comperable to rent you've actually paid. I doubled my rent when I bought my house, which only works out becuase of my resident sugar daddy :)

aside from that my fav part of your post was this:
*There's a big difference between bored and miserable. When you've never really been miserable, you can easily mistake it for bored. Not so, and someday, you'll actually be miserable and then you'll see the difference.

hug,
M

I hear you about the mortgage amount. Once I can have an idea of what price range I'm approved for, I'll have to sit down and really do a budget to see what I can actually afford. The thing is that there seems to be a huge difference in quality between say...$150,000 and $175,000. And that's only about $150 more a month. I'd rather live in a nice place and have less money than a crappy place and have more. But I also don't want to be strapped. So I really need to figure it all out.

Also, I need a sugar daddy. Maybe that will come later. :)

"Stop indulging in downer-ness" is a good motto!

Yay for buying a condo! Good luck with that!

Oooh! A children's book? I would like to know more about it!

Haha, I like Adam Lambert. For a while it seemed like he was really toning it down, but I think he is back to being who he is (based on some of the youtube videos I've seen of him.)

My book is called "Facts to Annoy Your Teacher." It's super fun. I'll send one for Chloe when it comes out.

Adam Lambert is such a wackadoodle and so NOT American Idol material. That's why I love him. He's actually got a real artistic sense and he's so much more polished and creative than the other contestants. He probably won't win, but he sure is awesome.

Thanks, it sounds like something Chloe would love!
Loved Adam's Motown performance! I never know what to expect with him!
