Baby concerns and bed rest

Feb 17, 2012 16:40

I'm sitting in a hospital bed, on bed rest, and I wanted to let you all know what was going on.

My blood pressure has been elevated, so they sent me to the hospital for a work up on Wednesday afternoon, and even though there were no other signs of preecclamsia (blood work great, fetal monitoring good, no protein in my urine), the blood pressure was still elevated, so they decided to keep me for 24 hour monitoring of a few things.

Blood pressure is no longer a big concern on bed rest, though while it is elevated a bit, its not my normal range.  But they did a sonogram on Thursday morning and Hobo is smaller than they would like her to be at this stage, and the amniotic fluid is low.  Apparently a 4-5 or below is of concern, and she's at a 6, so above the level of concern, but only slightly.

So they're going to keep me here in the hospital on best rest and monitoring for the next week and possibly deliver her on Thursday, at 37 weeks.

Obviously, things may change, and this has been a lot for copilot and I to process in the past couple of days (not to mention some of the baby things that are not ready yet!!), but I wanted you all to know.

It looks like we'll be getting to meet her a whole lot sooner than we thought we would.

Thank you (again) for all of your well wishes and thoughts from last week and from those of you on twitter when I put this up on Wednesday.  I really feel so humbled to have so many people pulling for Hobo, for me.  You're all pretty remarkable, I hope you know that.

*much love*

locals: there are visiting hours, and I wouldn't mind visitors at all. Email me if you'd like the info.
