I...need to go shopping later for things for a nice meal tomorrow. I...I will make him a birthday feast with all his favorite foods....

Hnn. ...You really are that fond of the man, aren't you? I'd voice my opinion on that further, but I think I've done enough of that to show I'm not going to win this argument. So do as you like. I'm not going to fuss with you further about it even if I dislike it.
Though if you're honestly wanting to give him what he wants on his birthday, just ask him what he fucking likes. You've been apart how many years? You can't tell me that things are completely like when you were last together.
