My darling, darling Leo (first time in this LJ I didn't use his codename, and no I will not remind anyone what it is) is in danger of being deported....I don't wanna lose another friend to a useless immigration system. Please please pleeeeeeaaase take a minute to dash off a letter in his support.
I am kindly asking for your support in my ongoing application for Canadian Permanent Resident. Please find below a synopsis of my current situation.
I arrived in Canada in September 2004. On my arrival, I applied for Refugee status on the basis of my sexual orientation. In June 2005, my application was rejected, the Refugee Board stating that “my life would not be in danger in Mexico City” if I were to return there. I know this is not so. Upon receipt of my refusal letter, I submitted a request for a Judicial Review on my file. Last month, my request for Judicial Review was dismissed by the Federal Courts.
After more than two years of living in Canada, I have had the opportunity to live openly and freely as a gay man, and develop and expand myself in a spiritual, personal and professional capacity. After arriving to this country, I felt as though I was “reborn”. I was finally able to express my true self, as compared to back home in Mexico where I was limited in how I could show my true feelings and live my life. I was unable to enjoy life as I now do in Canada. I am asking to be able to live in Canada legally so that I can continue live in dignity and without fear.
I will be submitting an application to CIC - Citizenship and Immigration Canada - on Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds. As you already know, if I am forced to return to Mexico, I will face tremendous hardship and face a life of fear and danger. I would appreciate you helping me to validate my contributions, commitment and support to Canadian society, and in particular the LGBT community in Toronto.
If you could please write a letter of support on my behalf, I will be very grateful for your help
