ooh, lemme ask my best friend where the good mexican food is. she's from el paso and will know! she might not be familiar with brooklyn, but she will know of some in the city, i would imagine. :) i know she's mentioned a few really good places in her 'hood, but she's in jersey city. it's actually a pretty short commute via subway/bus. took me about 40 minutes total to get to her house from bklyn.
my friends who live out here say sunset park is where you can find some decent mexican food but not like i can find in texas. their from california and i don't like the mexican food from california either so they might not be the ones to ask, i'll even eat chico's tacos at this point and i hate that place! i guess it'll taste that much better once i sink my teeth into some mexican food.
heh yeah, el paso food is def. in a league of it's own. :P come to think of it, i did eat some mexican food while i was down there last christmas and it was excellent. chicken flautas :9
okay, i spoke with my best friend via email and she says that she's yet to find any reasonably priced mexican food in new york. last time she ate there, she and her boyfriend paid 70 bucks for 2 beers and 6 taquitos.
she swears by this place called cinco de mayo in jersey city. it's just blocks from her house and she said the prices are really good. she says it's worth the trip and it's easy to get to.
another place she recommended is in hoboken, which isn't far at all either. some place called charritos. it's good, but not as cheap as cinco de mayo.
so there you have it. :P make the journey to jersey city and check it out. from what i recall, the busline will take you straight from the port authority to the stop on the bowers (a historic street) and palisades, then you walk about 5-6 very short blocks. across the street is fisk park where there's an awesome view of nyc.
When people from El Paso go to Austin, they laugh at our Mexican food and here you, waiting patiently for some Austin Mexican food! lol. You know, our family would NOT approve! HA!
