SUMMARY: This a sequel to Trying To Make Some Sense Of It All and therefore still an INVERTED AU. (You should probably read that one to make some sense of this one at all. :-D) It is set four years in the future. Brian has just started his last year of college.
AN: I’m just flexing my writing muscles a little with this one. There were one or two

You had me guessing right off the bat for the POV we were reading. I thought it was Brian, at first, waiting for Justin to come into the bar. Then I thought it was Lindsay when Melanie was mentioned. I love how you made Justin and Mel friends here. It's a good balance to the Lindsay/Brian college relationship.
And I'm so glad you killed off Jack early. I'm thrilled to see a world where Jack is out of Brian's life this young. You saved him years and years of torture. ;)
I would have been quite happy to let Jack go to his grave not knowing. But no, Justin thought it would be good for me to tell him. I love this. Brian might not know it now, but he'll thank Justin when he's older because he had closure with his Father. He doesn't know it yet, but this moment gave him the power to be independent and confident in his lifestyle.
This is my favorite part though:
Your parents are wrong. They’ve always been ( ... )

Brian was really screwed up by Jack, and yet he couldn't quite detach himself from him either. This weird relationship they had, where Jack would ostensibly approve of how well he was doing and really only want the money Brian was giving him. It always freaked me out a little. That must have been incredibly painful for Brian.
Thank you again, JoAnne, for taking the time to do this.

(Brian's waiting in the hospital is written soooo well and his confrontation with his mother after she learned about the accident. 'ASK ME.' Love it so much!)
Now I'm right back into the atmosphere of your AU and I really enjoyed reading the new chapter. I'm so excited you decided to continue this story!
And, yay, off to read the next one.

I had to read it myself before posting to make sure everything lines up. I hope this one will hold up. :-)

So, the old, bad Jack is leaving us? Good. But this is going to be hard for Brian.
Loved to see how Justin's taking care of him and that he still can see behind Brian's mask and all his bullshit.
Can't wait for more ♥ Hugs
