Hmm, I got the idea that it's a sword, and there's the swordsman in the back. It took me a little longer to see the wolf in the blade, and then I said, "That's cool." So, the ONLY criticism is that someone's gonna have to be looking closely at the badge to see the wolf. This is assuming it's the normal badge size.
Taht's my major concern with it. Ruadh looked at it for a bit too before he saw the wolf in the whole thing. So yeah, I'm wondering there. I could possibly make it a bit larger than a normal con badge and edges down the blade on the image to make the wolf more visible in it. I'll be taking a copy to school tomorrow and running it through a few prints to see what I can do.
Well, pretty much all layer transparencies are alpha channel ones, but the blade one I used focused on the deep spectrum of the greyscale. I've gone over and done a version that lets the red outline of the wolf show through a touch more, and has lightened the sheen on the blade to make the wolf more pronounced. I sent it to Straif and he likes it, so I'm going to run to the printer's this week and have a cheap print out done at high-res so I can see how it turns out. I very well may go with a slightly larger than normal con badge size just to convey the details right. Thanks for the input, everyone! :)

Nice- very nice :) But I had trouble spotting the Wolf too, perhaps try it as a larger image with an alpha transparency?
But you're on the right track- it certainly fits his...uh...personality. I'll leave that up to him whether it's a compliment or an insult :)
