Took a break from knitting two shawls in four days for 3rdragon* to do some art. Or something. I have all of these bookmark-size pieces of fairly nice paper, you see. In various shades of off-white. It would be an awesome cloak-thing, but I imagine it would be a pain in the butt to make!

There are feathered cloaks as part of the traditional New Zealand Maori garments . . . Some of them are really cool.

From the travelogues of Leticia Thorne, Lady Explorer:
"These past few months find me far from civilization. Here, in the high mountain valleys, I have come across little but uncultured peasants in rude huts..."
"Though it seems that no-one here can either read or write, the village I am currently staying in has a tradition of oral storytelling. The harsh conditions of their existence have provided them with scores of bogeymen to frighten children into behaving, the most prevalent of which is the owlmaid. She appears to be a common threat for a child who dawdles about their chores or asks "Why?" one too many times, though why the owlmaid is a threat, I cannot discern..."

It's going somewhere. Dunno where. There are giant owls involved. I think Leticia loses her donkey to one.

Her travelogues are being written in little snippets. I'll report when I've finished a chunk of owlmaid stuff.
