Tony Stark kadollan August 26 2012, 21:53:31 UTC
• why I like themTony is a great character. He's a charming, witty, funny, broken man with a spectacular redemption arc. He goes from giving every outward display of being a completely callous, spoiled ego-centric ass-hole to privatizing world peace -- because he saw the real consequences of his actions while he was in Afghanistan. By the time he's in the Avengers, he's figured out how to make his relationship with Pepper functional (okay, I might be reaching here, but the brief scene with Pepper sure as hell looked functional) and he seems to have done a hell of a lot of growing up ( ... )

Draco Malfoy kadollan August 26 2012, 22:29:29 UTC
• why I like them and why I don't I should probably start by making a distinction between fanon Draco and canon Draco. I don't actually like canon Draco at all (and I'm not meant to). He's an spoiled little git. That said, I adore fanon Draco in ways that are unwholesome. I love his snark, his pragmatism, his willingness to ALWAYS call Harry on his shit.

• favorite episode (scene if movie) The scene in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom (directly before Harry shows up). Draco is so fucking screwed and he knows it. There's an insane megalomaniac serial killer living at his mum's house, and if he doesn't manage to off the most powerful wizard that ever lived he's toast (and there is a strong implication that his mother and father are as well.) Sucks to be you, bb.

• favorite season/movie Either Goblet of Fire (also known as "The Year of the Haircut Boycott") or Half-Blood Prince.

• favorite line Is "my father will hear about this?" too obvious ( ... )

Bruce Banner kadollan August 28 2012, 16:27:44 UTC
• why I like them Bruce (as characterized in The Avengers -- I've not seen The Hulk, nor do I particularly wish to) is a great character. In a lot of ways he is Tony's inverse -- Tony has a reckless (thoughtless) personality that is made up of about 78% impulse control issues. And Bruce just can't be that - he has to have a tight lid on absolutely everything he does, says or thinks because the consequences are just too dire if he doesn't. And yet he is still this gentle, thoughtful, kind, sweet man. Who just happens to have a giant rage monster thing (frankly, I can relate).

• why I don’t There really isn't much that I don't like - although similar to something that cybermathwitch said, I would like to see his character develop more of a sense of self acceptence. (I just might have some head canon about that, actually).

• favorite episode (scene if movie) I love, love, love the scene where Tony pokes him with a sharp stick and he just looks amused.

• favorite season/movie The Avengers

• favorite line "I'm sorry, that was mean." He ( ... )

Steve Rogers kadollan September 5 2012, 19:31:00 UTC
Sorry! I saw something shiny swimming over the trench!

• why I like them Oh Steve. I have a lot of feelings about Steve. About how he's a man out of time, a man of honor, humility, and kindness. About how he genuinely believes that he's "just" a kid from Brooklyn -- and how that is part of why he really isn't.

• why I don’t I don't like it when he's written as an idiot (which he isn't), or as a disapproving jack-hole (he isn't.) So there's nothing I don't like about Steve, but plenty to not like about how fandom characterizes him.

• favorite episode (scene if movie) Gosh, I need to re-watch Captain America. Okay, the two I can think of are: in Captain America, when he goes to rescue Bucky and he's all "go on" and Bucky says "No! Not without you!" Or maybe that's my answer for Bucky. Anyway, the other is when he heaves Natasha in the air with his shield -- he asks her if she's sure, but it isn't because she's a girl, or he thinks she can't handle herself (after all, she's the one he picked to hold off the chitauri on ( ... )

favorite line: I'm getting stuck on this one. Because they're ALL GOOD?

It saddens me that Steve has become a foil for Tony in fandom. Or worse, that he isn't fleshed out as a true character and just hangs out in the background, blushing.

The Star Spangled Man With a Plan - YES! He is lovely in that garb! He wears it with this self-deprecating smile that goes along with it so well.

I can safely say that Steve/Bucky was my VERY FIRST otp in the Marvel fandom because CA was the first movie I saw (although I have Steve/Peggy feels that I'm still trying to pick through and deal with). The more I find out about the two of them from comic canon, the more I love them! I can't wait to see the next movie... and love your head canon for them bumping right up against the new movie!

Ginny Weasley

• why I like them Ginny is one of my favorites. She's funny, strong, powerful in her own right, and while she starts out being portrayed as the classic stereo-type of the "girl that needs rescued" that's really not who she is at all. Since the books are all filtered through Harry's somewhat limited scope, it begs the question how much did Ginny change as she got older? And how much did Harry's PERCEPTION of Ginny change? The answer is a fair bit of yes to both, I suspect.

• why I don’t There is a lot about how she is characterized in Fanon that makes me crazy (this is very similar to my answer about Steve Rogers, actually).
• favorite episode (scene if movie) My favorite scene may well be when Harry (bless him) says (and I'm wildly paraquoting here "Oh, I'd forgotten you'd been possessed by him too" and she gives him this look and says, "How nice for you." Harry you have been schooled and you are not even off the train yet.

• favorite season/movie I'll never not love the scene in the film version where ( ... )

Bucky Barnes

• why I like them He's so loyal. Loyal and funny and brave -- Steve is incredibly important to him, and he has that urge to protect.

• why I don’t There's not a lot to not like. I mean, I'm nervous as hell about how they'll handle The Winter Soldier (not for the same reasons that most of my fannish friends are, mind you), but from what we've seen up to this point?

• favorite episode (scene if movie) Two possibilities -- one, when he's only just very been rescued and the building is coming down around their ears, Steve tries to get him to leave and Bucky JUST got him back and hell no, and he yells, "not without you." The second is in the train when he picks up Cap. America's shield, because someone has to. I just have a lot of Steve and Bucky feels, okay?

• favorite season/movie Captain America: The First Avenger

• favorite line

• favorite outfit

• otp Bucky/Dum Dum (I KID! I KID!) I am an avid Bucky/Steve 'shipper. DID I MENTION THAT I HAVE A LOT OF BUCKY/STEVE FEELS?

• brotp Also Steve. ( ... )

John Crichton

Fair warning -- I used to love Farscape, but haven't seen it in like a hundred years. AND I never saw all of the show. So my 'Scape lore is rusty.

• why I like them I loved how he was a Southern boy at heart. And how he was determined to adjust, adapt, figure this shit out. He was a stranger in a strange land, Dorothy Gale out of Kansas, but he knew it and was working on figuring out how to roll with it.

• why I don’t Sometimes he was a serious asshole.

• favorite episode (scene if movie) I have a rather soft place in my heart for "Won't Get Fooled Again."

• favorite season/movie Probably the first season -- it's definitely the one I remember most clearly. I feel like I shouldn't even be answering this before a complete re-watch.

• favorite line "Don't move..or I'll fillya full of, little bolts of Yellow light." And this is how we knew we weren't watching Star Trek.

Ooh, or, "Cross my heart, smack me dead, stick a lobster on my head!"

• favorite outfit I do like a man in leather.

• otp Aeryn ( ... )

• why I like them I should start by admitting to the fact that a great deal of my perception of Clint comes from fanon. There's just not that much movie-canon to work with.

That said, I love his sense of humor, his snark, his passion, his commitment (either to Natasha, or to the team, or hell, to SHIELD).
• why I don’t Nah, I just really like him.
• favorite episode (scene if movie) This is hard... maybe when he suggested that someone was trying to open the cube from the other side...because doors open both ways. All of the scientists in the room should have been instantly embarrassed.
• favorite season/movie Avengers, because as great as it was when he told Coulson that he was rooting for Thor, that hardly counts.
• favorite line "You and I remember Budapest very differently."
• favorite outfit Well, it ain't the purple one from Earth's Mightiest Heroes I can tell ya that.
• otp Clint/Natasha definitely, although I was reading Clint/Darcy before I ever saw Avengers, and I have a soft place in my heart for it. (Okay, ( ... )
