Some cool quotes from Gwendoline Christie
at After Elton Brienne of Tarth was, for me, the other bright spot in the shitheap of Season 2.

But that reminds me, I love Brienne, love her like pie, but I'm a little confuzzled about the way in which she's held up as the THE Warrior Woman (TM) when we have Asha (aka Yara) Greyjoy. The two of them fascinate me because they are so very alike and yet, so very different.
Both of them lost a mother at a young age. Brienne's died, Asha's went mad.
Both of them dress in mens clothing.
Both of them are women bucking the system.
Both of them come from the really patriarcial parts of Westeros (and the Iron Islands are even worse than the Stormlands).
Both of them were raised by their fathers as if they were boys, to "replace" lost sons.
Both of them are great in a melee.
And yet, and yet, we have Asha who:
-- commands a 100% crewed-by-men ship, men who follow her and are loyal to her because she's a smart, canny, commander and reaver who never fails to land them booty. Asha has wealth and she's paid
the iron price for all of it.
-- has heard every insult in the book about her looks, her clothes, and her gender, and won't hesitate to give as good as she gets.
-- has a following and a lot of backers at the Kingsmoot, damn near turning it into a Queensmoot and becoming the first woman to rule the Iron Islands.
--is pretty savvy, knows when to use the fist and when to extend the hand, and is capable of thinking long term.
-- has men who (hopelessly) pine after her. (She's got no use for the man who admits he "waited" for her. Why? What for? I didn't wait for you. Get laid and move on in your life.)
-- IS NOT A VIRGIN! She's in control of her body and sleeps with whoever she chooses when she wants to. In fact, she's quite enthusiastic about sex. It's fun.
Asha, she owns her identity and is comfortable in her body in ways that Brienne can only dream of.

Brienne, Brienne, Brienne ... when are we going to talk about the fact that Asha's got it going on?
A pity it is Asha wasn't born in Dorne. If nothing else, she'd do well to take an extended vacation there. There are some interesting ladies named Martell and Sand living down there. They'd be ruling Westeros together before anybody else figured out what hit them. ;)
(Dorne would be good for Brienne, too.)
