Yes, my anticipation was so high it was basically unfullfillable, too.
And I totally agree - I won't be able to decide if I liked it until part two, either. It could be awesome, or meh...
Who's Goldorak?
I was pretty sure Ten wouldn't die until the last few mins of pat 2, so i wasn't too worried about him, yet... but I know I'll cry when it happens. :(
Your favorite scenes seem to be the same as mine, pretty much. :)
If the Time Lords are as bad as they seem, their return will almost *have* to be temporary, unless of course season 5 is all about the Doctor fighting them/trying to escape from them... I understand that's what parts of Classic Who were like... Either way, I'm sure their return will cause lots of angst.
I wonder what's going to happen with Donna now that she remembers, I don't think they'd kill her (especially since the focus is supposed to be on Ten's death), but they also can't just repeat the mind-wipe, so... what other option is there?
I can't ait for part 2, either, and I know I'll cry, too!
Will reply to the rest of your comment later but...

Thank God for Google, which helped me figure out that the English title of that extremely popular (not with me, but by the by) anime of the 80s was Grendizer. I've now edited the post to stop people from getting utterly confused. Though if Grendizer was only popular in France, then it'll still be confusing. *grins* Anyway, it was some robot-type character who, IIRC, could fly around etc.
So much anticipation killed any chance that this episode might've had... I was bound to feel a little disappointed as a result.
I think I was lucky in one respect... as soon as I heard Simm was on set for the shoot, my expectations were set at "epic crack." Because that is the Simm!Master. The episode both met and exceeded my expectations. *g*
Yeah, I was sort of worried about the Master being there, but I was hoping somehow that he wouldn't be too central in the plot.
Don't get me wrong, I adore John Simm (especially as Sam Tyler in Life on Mars) but the two S3 episodes with the Master are far from being my favourites, so...
As it turns out, even if I knew my expectations wouldn't be met, it got worse than I thought in part 2 when it suddenly felt like the Master was the main character and the Doctor no more than supporting cast. :/ (then again, if that had been my only problem with the finale...)
