This is a pretty good time to be buying houses O_o Although since your house is still under construction, as opposed to being foreclosed, I don't know how much you've beaten the market.

gj, though

Eh, the area we're living in is like Hudson. The market hadn't affected it too much, and where we're getting a better deal is in terms of down payment ($8k tax credit) and mortgage rate.

The foreclosure areas tend to be in Durham and neither of us wanted to live there.

Besides, it wasn't all about buying something to take advantage of the market. It was about finding something we could live in together for years, and if it happened to take advantage of some market slumps and incentives, that makes us happier.

I know..they made me happy too. They're reasonably large as well. Eventually we're going to keep a futon in one of the rooms and use it for an office/extra guest room. That way we have a separate place for the computers to work in.

As soon as it's finished. The estimate for completion is in October. This is also assuming we can get a couple issues with the contract hammered out. Adam has some clauses that make him uncomfortable and he won't sign anything that makes him nervous. We're in the middle of negotiations with the builder about those, and we should know by the time he's back from Quakecon if all the bits worked out.

Hopefully the contract negotiations work out and the deal doesn't fall through. We'll know pretty shortly if that happens though, so at least it will be taken care of one way or the other.
