That's a fascinating piece of tea culture with many details. I'm glad I'm not a noble from that culture, having to remember all that, and can just take my tea any which way :-)
The lack of beatings now make me suspicious on Gorlyn's behalf...
I have this memory it's not overly clear but it's a book I read, or a movie I saw where at a tea party the person turns their cup over and that is a signal that they are refusing to drink tea. I forget it if was because they weren't thirsty or if they just didn't like who they were having tea with. It may have been both. Anyway it inspired this whole tea ritual.
Everyone is suspicious. I don't think anyone trusts Johar.
He doesn't like the overly concentrated smell coming from his fingernails after squeezing lemons for 12 hrs. He tends to sleep in the fetal position so his fingers are right up to his nose and it's overwhelming.

You know, that sounds really familar! I might have read or seen that too, but I can't remember from where either.

Wondering what brought about the change in Johar's teaching methods? Perhaps his arms were sore *smirk*
Very curious about the smell of lemon... such an innocuous smell, or so it would seem. Looking forward to more!

Actually I think someone is feeling a bit guilty for taking his anger out on Gorlyn.
It's that scent you get if you've been squeezing lemons for hours on end and it become overly concentrated in your nails that he's smelling.
