What the fucking hell.
Okay, seriously... HOW THE HELL DID CHLOE'S WEIRD-ASS COLLECTION WIN?!?! I mean, come on here, people. Daniel V's collection was beautiful, better than anything Banana Republic could put together--not quite as inspired as it should have been, yeah, but they were right that he has very developed exquisite taste for a 24-year-old. Santino's collection was gorgeous, and I couldn't believe he pulled it off. He had a real show, he had gorgeous pleating, he had understated, refined designs. And Chloe's collection was a bunch of recycled fabrics, didn't have any real cohesive sense to it, and let's face it, some of those dresses were godawful. Yes, the backs on some of them were awesome, she pushed some new ground on a few of them. But overall, it didn't do it for me. I thought it was the weakest of the lot. And she fucking wins the whole show with it?!?! What the hell. I think it was Debra Messing who really did it--obviously the woman likes the idea of wearing shapeless heavy dupioni silks. In any case, pshaw to the judges, I will happily buy clothes from either Daniel V. or hell even Santino's collection tonight, but Chloe's... other than 3 dresses, it was pretty awful.
Even so, compared to first season, all of the collections were a lot more boring than they should have been. Jay is a pretty damn hard act to follow, as is Kara Saun and even Austin Scarlett. Ah well. At least the nice thing about Dan's collection is that it works for everyday, at work, going out, the whole shebang. It's Banana Republic, but better. I'd wear most of what he had on the runway on any given day. So there is something to be said for that, I suppose. But still... it wasn't as exciting as it should have been. And he still should have won over Chloe, hands down.
Okay, after that nice little bitchfest... let's have some music, baby!
Okay, for
indigochild76, here's the first 8 tracks from disc 2 of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Enjoy them, hon! ^_^ I'll put the rest of them up when I get back from Australia on the 25th.
Castlevania LOI--Castle Keep Entrance Castlevania LOI--Despair Castlevania LOI--Rear Garden Castlevania LOI--Pagoda of the Misty Moon Castlevania LOI--Lament of Innocence (Leon's Theme) Castlevania LOI--Darkness Castlevania LOI--Dark Night Toccata (Walter's Theme) Castlevania LOI--Dracula Appears As for the rest of the offerings today, these are all songs that evoke a mood or a sense of place for me. More than that, they grab you by the throat and take you to that place, that feeling, that sense of whatever it is stir up in the listener's mind's eye. These are songs that can completely affect my mood, no matter how I was feeling beforehand. In addition, they range the gamut, from bluesy-folksy Americana, to a hip jazzy bar at night in the city, to a sweeping landscape in a Medieval-era country, to a time of day or of year.
Everlast--Blinded By the Sun I love this song. I don't know what it is about this piece that just gets me, but maybe it's Everlast's tendency to sing about everyday occurrences that aren't necessarily so pretty. They don't fit with civilization's high-minded ideals of social compact and love thy neighbor, but they are inevitably part of the modern human experience. Particularly the theme of this song, getting in over one's head in a no-win situation. Seriously, I love this piece more than his first major single that basically everyone and their dog has heard (not that its popularity makes it any less good of a song)--"What It's Like".
Everlast--White Trash Beautiful This song has more of a bluesy tone than the previous one. Both of these are off of the same album, one that didn't receive much airtime, much to my confusion, because the album is better than "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues", at least in my opinion. This one has a bit of that lost kind of feeling you get when you feel like you're not really going anywhere, even though you're moving at some kind of regular pace.
Love Psychedelico--I Mean Love Me I know there's been quite a bit of Love Psychedelico being posted of late, but they really do evoke such a feeling that I couldn't pass up this track even though I've posted other songs of theirs so recently. This song makes me think of the open road, in the great plains, or else the dusty dry part of Route 66, or driving through the rocky, desolate parts of northern California on the I-5. There's also a bit of a desperate edge to the song too which reminds me of those barren landscapes.
Love Spirals Downwards--Misunderstood (I'll Alwyas Love You Remix) There is something about Love Spirals Downwards that makes every song of theirs I've heard completely evoke something different, but fully formed in my head every time. This track has that kind of acid jazz wine bar sort of feel to it, a very urban nightlife vibe.
Vanessa Mae--The Blessed Spirits There is such a sweeping quality to this piece, apparently composed by Vanessa Mae in addition to being performed by her (with a supporting orchestra). It feels like the perfect introduction to a late Medieval period epic movie, as the camera pans over the landscape, over people working the fields, the stone cottages with thatched roofs, the caravans and peddlers traveling down dusty roads. Somehow this song invokes that kind of imagery in me every time I hear it, and I've owned the cd it's off for for 8 years now.
And last we have a repost for
