I am doubtful as to whether the landlords did anything about the heat, but it seems to work fine as long as I don't mind turning the thermostat up to a ridiculous swamplike temperature when it starts to dip into the sixties, and as long as I don't have a lot to do in my living room ( Read more... )

Ugh bugs. Bughs? I mean, okay, there are some great bugs out there (I think the bombardier beetle is my favorite) but out there is kind of the key phrase. I like hypothetical bugs way more than housemate bugs.

Would it be weird to ask for one of their cell numbers or something just to text like, landlord FYIs/warnings/help I locked myself out plz tell me you're home requests?

I don't think so. I've had neighbors who I knew fairly well and some I never talked to but I would not think askance if I was asked to trade this info.

Oh, I like bugs. Bugs are great. I just don't want them IN MY APARTMENT. Unless they're like, pets or something. THESE ARE NOT PETS. GO AWAY, BUGS.

Good to know re: the neighbors thing! I might ask next time I see them. Assuming I'm actually awake enough to remember.

In college my housemate Nick kept hundreds of crickets as food for his pet lizard. One day they all got loose. Everyone else complained loudly but to be honest I kind of liked having them around.

Apparently the carnivorous worms got loose too but he didn't tell us given how we reacted to the Cricket Incident.

I feel like I'd be a lot more annoyed with carnivorous worms than crickets. Crickets make cute noises! What kind of worms were they?
