So I have to admit partly I'm just posting this in the hopes that bitching about my heat will bring it back. That's how it seems to work, for some reason. I guess I'll text Hapless Repair Guy tomorrow and let him know it's still randomly cutting out. Have to admit my computer works better in the mid-60s, though. Man I gotta get this thing into ( Read more... )

Do you think commiserating comments are part of the livejournal-heat ritual? If so, let me sympathize. You are dealing with the low heat better than I would, because I am a total wimp about temperatures.

I would offer to beta your fic but I have never even heard of this fandom.

I kind of think they might be? Because part of the ritual is also me feeling bad about getting commiserating comments after my heat goes back on. (...Sadly, that isn't working, although at least I don't feel guilty either.)

EDIT: THERE'S THE HEAT. Thanks, heat. I put my hand on part of the furnace to see if it was really on or just the fan, since the air coming out of the vents was cold... and I burned my entire left hand. So that was a thing I did and won't try again.

It's okay! It's Undertale, it's this amazing RPG/bullet hell with an interesting morality system and fun characters. The trailer's here. My favorite character is the obnoxiously punny skeleton who is named after a font, but I love all of them. (Except Jerry. Ugh.) This is the trailer. There are really good Let's Plays if you're interested in the story but not in playing the game, although it's pretty easy as long as you don't opt to kill literally everyone.(I got into it because a troll on FFA was complaining about it and everything they hated made me ( ... )

Oh hmm. Undertale seems to be for Windows & Mac? I wonder if there's a way to play it on Linux... or maybe I can convince someone with a non-Linux machine to play it with me. :) I mean, it's hard not to be compelled by a game with an obnoxiously punny skeleton.

Apparently it works on Wine? Or at least, it should. The developer is working on a Linux version but when I say "developer" I don't mean a company; there's just one guy. But it is a really cute game, and has puzzles, not just fast reflexes, so you could probably play it with a friend and have a lot of fun.

Oh, so you're posting instalments HERE second. For some reason I thought it was the other way around. That... makes more sense.

I'm really enjoying it! Love the bit about magic and politics, love the characterizations of Dever and Boone.

I hope this fic continues to be fun! And that your heat is fixed before Spring (But how?).

SO BASICALLY WHAT HAPPENED is that I started posting the whole thing but in small bits here, because I was worried about not having buffer and I wanted something to post daily.

Then I posted a bit with Undyne and Sans in the 3-5 sentences thread and someone liked it, so I was like "huh."

Then I posted my favorite excerpt from a later part of the fic, and more people liked it.

Then I posted another excerpt that ended on a cliffhanger and was like "maybe I should post more next post?" and then I just ended up posting ALL of it on FFA and have about a day's worth of buffer because apparently who needs buffer when you have puns and tommy guns. But meme is slowing down a bit so that's okay.

But yeah, I'm kind of wondering if I could maybe start posting this to AO3 and not have it be a complete disaster of abandoned WIP? Although I need a title.

(I'm anxiously waiting for the other Undertale WIP's next installment, and also Han and Kylo Ren's next sabacc game; WIPs are apparently my main meme activity at the moment.)

Kylo and Han is strangely compelling. <3 meme.

I think you need a title before you post. But I'm not sure you need a beta.

I found a title!

I might start posting it tonight. D: I'm a little anxious about it but the artist whose work it's based on reblogged an excerpt yesterday and it's the first time I've ever really gotten notes on anything of mine, sooo I guess people there like it at least?

I am also attempting to make chicken pot pie! :D I made pastry today, but I really think I overworked it. Last time I made pastry was literally junior high, in home ec, and I was so bad at it (I am impatient. I will go in and scrunch the not-coming-together dough together with my fingers and get it under my fingernails kind of way, because I'm so frustraaated it's not coming together. Another girl in my group ended up doing the pastry and she had a much lighter, more patient, touch). I think I should have stirred the water in with a fork instead of my hands...oops.

Also I think your vent about heating thing might work (lol...vent) but I feel the optimal way it works is when you complain to someone who can fix the problem and someone you will feel right embarrassed having complained to, in order to have the heat magically fixed. >.

I feel embarrassed complaining to anyone, is the thing. Although I burned my hand on the damn heater, sooo maybe I should've tried your method first and not gotten burned.

The chicken pot pie's not-a-crust was delicious. I've never made actual pastry, so all I really know how to make is cookie/tart crust, and all of my pies are made with either tart crust or store-bought pie crust, because I am lazy as fuck.

eep, sorry to hear about the hand.

What is the recipe for your crust? :)
I like baking and since for a few weeks there are other people to bake for I like trying new things...or rather old things that I have failed at...I still haven't given up the dream of being able to make non-leaky Pavlova! That sounds gross (and it kind of is...it's very sugary and thus sticky water) but it is still tasty. It's just very disappointing when I think I've finally done it!

The chicken pot pie biscuits or the tart crust? The tart crust is here: http://culinarycosplay.tumblr.com/post/116472022434/cinnamon-butterscotch-pie-last-time-i-checked and I think the chicken pot pie biscuits are just... regular biscuits?
