Okay, so in an effort to waste less/spend less (something I am continually failing at) I cleaned out the pantry last week to see if we could forego grocery shopping for a while and just use everything we've got first.  Unfortunately, we threw out an entire box of canned goods.  Including--I kid you not--two cans of tomato soup that expired in Jan. Black bean salad, with corn and some of your peppers. You really want some onion though.

No frozen meat to add some variety to your protein?

You could make a squash casserole with the squash and the cream of mushroom soup. Make some bread crumbs with leftovers from your homemade bread ( ... )

Oh! Exciting! These all sound like excellent ideas.

Can you send me the recipe for the red pepper pesto? I have a ton of garlic, and we could put it on pasta or on pizza. Bruschetta sounds very tasty, too, and I am definitely going to work on squash casserole... could you pretty please send me that one, too??

That is quite an impressive amount of list making...I think you should make a fried vegetable and other rice. Yummy..

A Virginian Pilot did just this very thing last winter. I believe her goal was a month but maybe it was longer. She allowed herself to buy very basic perishables but otherwise had to cook from her pantry. She made it!
