MY NEW LAPTOP JUST ARRIVED!!! WOOHOO! I am very excited about having a notebook again that can actually function as one instead of being relegated to a desktop due to its old age fragility. Sadly I can't play with it yet since I'm buried under a pile of reading, but what a great motivator to increase my skimming speed! -

From now until December somethingth I will have no time for anything but reading, writing, attending classes and teaching. But before my academic solitary confinement really begins I am very excited about Liz's and my trip to California on Thursday. I can't wait to meet chitinous and bobamster and to see epilady and chestertodd again! It is going to be so much fun! -

certainly not something you see every day. I was walking back from Cooper's Corner with some eggs when a topless woman rode past me on her bike. I'm pretty sure it was not a trick of the evening light. -

I just saw a squirrel pause for breath outside the window, and I swear, the thing had an ear (a squirrel ear, of course) growing out of its back! It was only a few feet from me and stopped for quite a while, so I was able to get a good look. I am checking into possible FBI connections and taking this as proof that I should avoid the local drinking -

After not riding a bike for a year, I have had the pleasure of going on several rides since I had my bike worked on last week. I had it tuned up, got a new chain and cassette, and had the wrench throw slicks on it, so that I have an MTB doing its best to pass as a road bike.
