What a mixed bag. But if you look at it as a chance to fine-tune your healthier habits, that should help keep things in check, right? I'm glad I read this today because a few things you typed made me wonder if I should contact my doctor about getting my thyroid tested. So thanks for raising my awareness :)
Yeah, I'm taking this as a positive. I mean, my goal is to be healthy, and that includes knowing what's going on with my body and being responsible about my medical issues.
You should definitely get your thyroid levels tested - over- or under-active thyroid is apparently a pretty common problem, and it can have lots of repercussions down the road with your heart and bones. It's just a blood test, too, so it's easy enough.
Wow, that's kind of scary! I agree with ticadaze that now you can fine tune your eating plan and keep things going. Should be a bit of an interesting challenge. I was also aware of a couple of things that you typed that made me wonder about my own thyroid. Anyway, good luck, and I'm sure you'll do fine.
Interesting side note, I was spurred into action just about a week before you by a doctor's visit as well(August 17). Of course, I also started out much higher than you(290), but seeing that number just about made me faint dead away, and I've been pretty consistent with losing weight ever since.
Yeah, I'm trying to think of this as a good thing. I mean, I'm taking charge of my medical issues, which is completely in line with my goal to be a generally healthier and more responsible human being... thanks for your support!
That's great that you've kept it up as well! I love that there are so many people who just had an epiphany and decided to change their lives... it's not like a New Year's resolution or anything, we just figured out that it was time to fix things. Well done on your success!
Woah! That must have come as a shock - but you caught it in time and you'll be ok, which is a good good thing! :)
Don't beat yourself up about not noticing things - I had a really bad kidney infection once that kept me in bed for two weeks before my Mum convinced me to go to the Doctor (by forcing me into the car and taking me there). I had to go straight to hospital when I got seen - for something I had convinced myself was just stomach cramps or trapped wind or something! ;)
