Reached my short-term goal

Nov 17, 2007 08:29

I first started this journal in August, when I was 248 pounds.  At that point, my short-term goal was to be in the 220s by mid-November... I was going back to my doctor for a follow-up on my thyroid medication and I would be seeing my boyfriend for the first time in three months.

This morning - the morning of my short-term-goal - I weighed 199.  ( Read more... )

This is soooooo awesome=)

Don't forget to hydrate with that miraculous H2O and take some extra walks this week.

Good luck with the communication with your boyfriend, don't doubt until you have a reason to.

Thank you so much! I know that I shouldn't doubt him... the fastest way to make something difficult is to expect it to be difficult, you know?

Yes, I definitely think we should spend a lot of time this weekend out walking. The trees here look magnificent, and I want to enjoy fall before it goes away.

Hi there! My name is Linda and like you, I have weight to lose! I've already lost 35 pounds, and I'm feeling really good. I'm averaging a loss of 2 pounds per week right now, but I'm still in the beginning stages of all this. My goal weight is 160 (I'm 5'10"). I currently weigh 275. Strange part is that I don't look that weight - not sure why, but that's ok by me! I exercise everyday, too, except for Sunday. I added you as a friend, hope you'll do the same! Have a great day!

Thanks for adding me! The more we work together, the easier this will be (... I hope!). I don't think I "looked like" my weight either, even at my highest weight (253 pounds), I certainly never really unattractive or ashamed of my appearance. I *did* feel slow and weak, which is why I decided to make a change, but that's different...

I'm adding you back!

Thanks for the add!! I talked to a woman I met in the grocery store last week. She lost 160 pounds - I was blown away, to say the least! She hit her goal last month and is now on maintenance. She is 54 years old, and she really looks great. She said to me, "I always thought that when I hit my goal weight, I could kick back and relax about food. Not so - it's even harder to maintain than it was to lose the weight. Just remember, the battle will never be over". That was a sobering statement to me. It was sad to hear that, but she accepted this and "battles" through things each and every day. WOW....and I thought things would get easier!! What's your thoughts on that?

I know how hard it is to maintain weight loss... I lost sixty pounds a few years ago but I got lazy and it all came rushing back (with more to spare!). I don't like to think of this as a battle, though - I mean, I don't want to think of my body or food as an enemy. I think of weight loss as a process of learning, in which I discover what I need to do to keep myself as healthy and content as I could possibly be. Once I've made all the discoveries, I'll have to commit to doing all the things my body wants and needs me to do. But saying it's a battle makes it sound so... I don't know. As if my body is unwilling, as if it actually wants to be 250 pounds. But I don't think that's true ( ... )

I know this post is old, but--I've found that in order to be happy and keep my husband from feeling like all the fun is gone from me I've had to change my plan a little. I'll still eat/drink the things I used to--just a LOT less of them. This is partially because my husband is the cook in this family and there's no way I'mma cook for myself or make him change his delicious food! But it did require not doing things the way I'd ideally do them to lose weight.

I'm curious if your approach has changed any since, um, a year and a half ago.
