I use NJ Star, but you can also use your computer's language changing setting or you can use google translator lol.. (but google translator is only if you want specific words.. it's not good at translating sentences)

I think the best option for me is to get a pinyin-based program; I think there are free ones if I ask around. Since I currently use mostly single terms in a sort of Chinglish form when I'm writing, I just kind of google terms I'm looking for (this has gotten annoying since simplified became more popular).

I totally don't trust automated translators, haha. :[ but I have used them for specific phrases when I really couldn't find something.
