Gabe was grinning wildly as they came up to the gates, genuinely pleased with Dean’s reaction. For his part Dean was bewildered. "So! What do you think Dean-o?"
Dean blinked wide eyes at him. "I just walked on a fucking rainbow! If I see a fucking leprechaun..."
Gabe laughed wholeheartedly at that. He knew well enough what Dean thought of the little people. Of course, after what happened a week before... Well, Gabe didn't much care for the Little Folk either. Fucking fairies...
"If there are any here then it's because they are visiting for political reasons. They wouldn't dare try anything. And if they do, I can smite them." That pulled a reluctant smile from his human. With a grin Gabe grabbed his hand a drug him forward.
They passed the guardian of the path, Heimdall Gabe called him, and Dean frowned, uncomfortable with the way he watched them., and the knowing smirk that crossed his features.
"Don't worry. He's known for that. The man can see almost anything." Dean inched a bit closer after that comment and muttered about pervert pagans. Gabe laughed, "And what does that say about you, hmm Dean-o? Dating one of them, even going so far as to seek their blessing for it…?"
Dean flushed a fetching shade of pink just as the gates opened for them. Heads turned to see who was arriving and a silence settled over the halls.
The shift from Gabe to Loki was instant. The grin became a smirk. Warm honey eyes turned to pale gold. Even the way he held himself changed, becoming closed off and aggressive. His face was cold and empty of emotion. Dean stepped back to watch the show.
"What? No 'welcome home' for little old me? My, my, what has become of Asgard while I was away?" Loki shook his head in mock sorrow, lips twisted into a smug smirk. "Are we not to be offered a cup of mead even? Have the old ways truly died?"
Whispers started breaking out as an old man stood. Dean could see several warriors reaching for weapons and tensed ever so slightly on reflex. But he made no move, letting Loki have this moment.
The old man, who Dean could now see, only had one eye. But it still seemed that the man could see where this was going as well. A small, barely there smile touched his lips as he spoke.
"Loki, my Brother. Many long years have passed since you have graced these halls with your presence. Come, sit at my table and tell me what has brought you home? Though first, perhaps you can introduce me to your companion?"
Gasps rose at this and with a very pleased smirk Loki dropped the magic that hid Dean from the eyes of the gods. He gave them a cheery wave, already spotting three he's pissed off once or twice before.
"Brother Odin, I would introduce you to my intended bond mate. Dean Winchester."
The whispers from before turned into full fledged shouting cries of, "Traitor!" and, "You Dare?!" were intermingled with surprised and somewhat heartbroken gasps of, "His intended?!"
Dean just grinned, moving to stand at Gabe’s side as a long, low laugh rumbled through the air and another god stood forward.
"Ever you find new ways to surprise me, my friend. This hunter has my respect already." The man had wild red hair and blazing blue eyes and a massive war hammer on his back. Dean grinned at him.
"Thor. Fight anymore giants without me?"
Odin sighed. "And I had hoped this human would have a calming effect on you."
Loki, Dean and Thor laughed long and hard at that.
