So, this past week, spurred on by Portal and the Orange Box, I decided to finally cash in my upgrade savings for a tune up on my faithful PC, theBeast. Things went great, then comically wrong and have settled on fantastic

I'm glad you liked it. :P It's a somewhat uncommon fact that dust accumulates in computers in GREAT quantities and can have a significant effect on the computer, from slowdown to total system failure.
Thankfully, these problems are normally low key, and can be solved entirely by removing the dust. Getting a compressed-air duster is the best way to go. Also ideal to have something to capture the dust with near by, like a little vaccum, but obviously you should keep that outside your PC.
I also heartily agree about the darkness troubles. It's to the point where I'm disoriented through the time of day as per usual, this time of year. I suspect it shouldn't be too long before I get a few days of no-sunlight sleeping.
You coming home for the Christmas Party this year?

Dust is crazy bad. Marc was having some huge computer troubles, with his computer shutting down randomly and running everything slowly, so I told him to give it to me for a day. After checking over the software, clearing the registry/startup, reinstalling Windows overtop of the old one, and defragging (I know XP does it automatically, but still, I'm old fashioned), the computer was still running slowly and shutting down randomly.
I opened up the case, and... yeah. Dust galore. Once it was cleaned out, it ran perfectly.
Anyway, this cake is great. It's so delicious and moist. It's chocolate! I'll be sure to save you a piece.
But look at me still talking when there's literature to do. And when I look at this post it makes me glad your computer's new. I've got my readings to do, and there is research, too.

In response to your question: not bad. But Vancouver is far North, and it's already ridiculously dark, ridiculously early. I miss Ottawa!
