yesterday was AMAZING. First, I hung out with Emily for ..forever and a half. we went downtown to get basil pesto and feta quesadillas, sat at soma, yelled at slow old people, went to Saraga, drank Ramune, went to target and the mall, then home to decorate andrew's myspace. well you didn't see ME yesterday...and how could anyone's day be complete without that??!?

and now it's time to read everyone's amusing posts/away messages about HOW AWFUL David Copperfield is...which I guess is partly true although I somewhat like it...but it's always fun to read them because somehow it seems everyone tries to out-do each other with "I want to gouge my eyes out" comments...I've never read a "I really like this book" comment about it...

I really liked that book. For real.

I was pretty much the only one in my class who didn't bash it on a daily basis. I even cried when Dora died. How weird.

I think it's safe to say that some of the world's most achingly beautiful, dramatic, and character-driven stories are told in Dickens' literature...Hard Times is excellent and just think about Oliver Twist -- what an amazing storyline! He really was a gifted storyteller...

I really liked Oliver Twist, too. I've never heard of Hard Times.

Sometimes his books are hard to get through (I couldn't get past the first 20 pages in Great Expectations a few years ago) but well worth it If I can actually get them done and get into the stories.

well. i didn't say i was gouging my eyes out. it's got its interesting bits, but i really hate the way everything is an appositive phrase, so i never know who Dickens is describing. so i have to read the sentence over again. I just don't like his writing style. plus, it's summer, and i want to read books that i'm interested in.

Hey I'm nearly done with "The Blue Girl." Was it you who recommended it to me? I love it. It makes me want to draw. I'll make a picture of Pelly.
