Back at the beginning of January I threatened to accomplish more this year, and finish projects. Now that we're into February I figured I should follow through with pictures of some things I've done.
Behind a cut to save friends pages
This first one is a newel post I built to replace a lost original in a house that dates to the 1850's or so. The post, several spindles, and a piece of handrail were gone. I built this post from 2 4'x8' sheets of 3/4 MDF, and a 6x6 post that goes through the floor and bolts to a floor joist. I wouldnt normally be so extreme with the anchoring, but this long staircase has a problem with it's handrail mounts so I had to do my best to shore it up. Every part of the post, with the exception of the edge trim and carvings I was asked to install after the fact, was made from MDF I cut on a tablesaw. The cap and baseboard are my favorites with several sequenced cuts to make nice patterns. I even had to miter the baseboard freehand with a tablesaw because my chopsaw dosnt have a large enough blade for mitering 6.5" board. Sorry for the dust, it was unavoidable.

The second project was a boot dryer built from an old bathroom fan, some 3/4" pine boards salvaged from a wine rack, and some drilled PVC pipe. It works really well, especially since it was free! I'm thinking next I should build a fursuit dryer...

Thats all for now, folks. Maybe a few more projects will get finished by next month :)
