Tide 003

I think I'd like to go to Carnival. I'm not interested in going in a large group, though.

Any advice from people who've been there?

carnival, priestly business, landscaping

A carnival? Here?

... I'm not sure whether to be amused or concerned.

Well, it apparently has an innocuous name but it's a pit of hell and chaos. Lots of death. Lots of murder. Very unpleasant.

... Why the hell would you want to go there?

Believe me, I don't relish the idea. I'd rather stay out here in comfort--but it's one area of the ship that we passengers have access to that's never been mapped or explored in a systematic fashion.

[Glaukir rubs the back of his neck.]

I'm not a fighter, but I'd like to add to the pool of knowledge.

Yeah! I mean, you did! I'm Lily!

[Pause.]

Don't go in Carnival.

Nice to meet you Lily. I've been told that Carnival is a very dangerous place.

Now don't go and get yourself killed, Father Khidamun.

Have we met? I don't recall your name...

I knew your former... version.

As much as I savor advantages, I don't think this one is particularly fair. I'm Commander Erol.

[Odds are 100 to 0 that Glaukir's been warned off of him already. That's okay, Erol doesn't need the element of surprise - and if he didn't want a reputation he wouldn't have gone and earned it.]

I still don't really understand the whole thing about versions. Commander Erol, how nice to finally put a voice to the name.

[Oh yes, he's heard stories, Erol.]

[He's been listening.]

Sounds kinda dangerous, yeah?
