Best books:

I hit the books hard. I picked the fantasy up again, got down with my heritage, dippped my toes in some manga. I did a prolonged stint with Victorian writers (and their Social Message Books), the feminists (and their What To Do With the Unmarried Woman books), and fell in love with Edith Wharton and Osamu Tezuka. And also fell even further behind on book reviews.

1. Catfish and Mandala by Andrew X. Pham
2. Momo by Michael Ende
3. Summer By Edith Wharton
4. Asian American Dreams by Helen Zia
5. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson
6. Native Tongue By Suzette Haden Elgin
7. Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
8. Ode to Kirihito by Osamu Tezuka
9. Pluto by Naoki Urasawa
10. Dumb Luck by Vu Trong Phung

Best fic:

3. "desert island, gun to your head" by curiouslyfic (Kitchen Confidential)

5. "I Am Acton Bell's Metaphorical Manhood" by xenakis (Hark! A Vagrant/the Bronte sisters)
6. "you've got the ways and the means to make it alright" by gyzym (The Brothers Bloom)
