Garden prep
Last weekend, when it was 60 and gorgeous, Fred and I raked the yard of most of the oak leaves and twigs that had fallen in late autumn and throughout the winter. It was lovely seeing the brown and dead things cleared away to make room for new green things. I was looking for a video for my other blog, and this one was on the list. Intrigued, I played it. I was digging the guitar -- it's a classical guitar, and the guy was really talented. Graduation!
I received an email this morning in response to one I sent last week. If I could get my adviser's signature today, I could walk in May. Well, I did, and I am!

On the shoulder of giants
I got very frustrated as I tried (unsuccessfully) to work on my thesis yesterday. Every point I started to write, I thought, "I need to address this other point first." So I'd start to write that, and then find, "I need to address the first point first." The chicken and the egg. Hoop-jumping and lenten sacrifices
I'm going to finish my degree this spring. I may have to wait until the fall to walk in the Commencement ceremony, though. I am not bothered by this, but it is certainly not quite what I had planned.

Coincidence?
Last night, I felt my soul lighten. Just the thought, "Maybe there's something else," gave me a sense of joy I haven't had about singing in a long time.
Out of curiosity, I contacted the husband of a soprano I've sung with at the U. He sings with Cantus, a fantastic all-male choral ensemble. I asked, "Any baritone openings in the near future ( Read more... ) -
