So Michelle and I have what we think is gonna be our cake topper/cake-topper-like-objects. Both of these were taken with her camera hence why the images are rather huge (feel free to comment on her taste in books/my taste in games/music if you can make anything out. Also, sorry about the bluriness but her digital camera doesn't have manual focus ( Read more... )

I like the choices. Also, Disgaea theme table?

Doing a Disgaea table would be a little difficult methinks, mainly because a lot of the character designs are a little... inappropriate (like Etna's for example. Or the female fighters, or hell, nearly any female class), though Prinnies could work...

Oh, and just so you know, the wedding is on the 21st of August, 2010.

Chrono Trigger Table!

You could have a statuette of the epoch.

As for a DJ, I recommend getting one at least for equipment purposes.

If music was the only concern, then an iPod with a good enough set of speakers would work, however you also have to think about microphones for the toasts, announcements, etc. Unless you want to have people just yell really loudly over the top of everyone. If you really wanted to penny pinch you could probably make do with a kareoke machine, but it would sound like crap.

Microphones are a good point, I hadn't thought about that. I think one of the places we looked out provided a sound system, but I don't think it's the one we're going with... might have to look into that.

And yeah, a Chrono Trigger table would be pretty awesome, Michelle already has a couple of Chrono Trigger cross-stitch magnets she made.

Lol me and Mike were saying the other day that you guys should have your tables be based on video games. So where is your venue? Also, from a planning point of view, I say go for a DJ. I know they don't seem that important, but your dj can also act as a sort of master of ceremonies for you, and its a lot easier to plan with one. Professional equipment and all that. Our dj was pretty good, (despite what Mike will tell you, :D) and they were really nice to work with without being too expensive. Also, they were willing to look up video game music for us. I just think its a bit nicer and more organized than trying to do it yourself.

Besides, you're supposed to let the bride have what ever she wants, right? ;) :D

We ended up choosing the Bay Shore Clubhouse. Our tables will only have a slight video game influence, nothing too showy (since there's more than a few people coming who aren't into that scene so much).

The big thing about the DJ, I think, is that I'd like a less formal affair, nor do I particularly want a lot of people who aren't a part of the whole friends and family deal. I also like messing with electronics :). But it's not something I'm going to fight to the death about or anything.
