Heh, I keep thinking of joining Twitter, before I realize I don't talk much online, and don't have a huge list of online acquaintances that I can't correspond with any other way.
I've been playing D&D since January, though it's 4th Edition which is a lot more game-y than anything else. I've been enjoying it a lot, even if the campaign I'm in is mostly hack and slash.
We're playing 3.5, but I don't really know much about how it differs from 4th. Our campaign is equal parts story progression and battling, I'd say. Actually, this campaign is a continuation of another campaign, set roughly a century later in the same world/story. Our DM is very good at crafting an epic fantasy tale, with some amazing characters. The main villain, for instance, is this wonderfully complex (and ludicrously powerful) dragon obsessed with securing his own immortality/godhood through a nefarious scheme to sacrifice the lives of all the other dragons. There's actually a rather intricate backstory that explains the obsession really well
( ... )
For me, the main thing that's holding me back from Twitter really, is lack of people I know who actually use it. I can count the people on one hand with fingers to spare, so it's something that could definitely change (and I agree about the barriers with blogging and chatting). Most of my online interaction for the moment is mostly confined to a single forum, and a handful of blogs, so it's not a huge deal for me at the moment.
The D&D campaign you're in sounds pretty awesome. Main differences between 3.5 and 4 is that the classes have been streamlined/balanced, and I'll admit, play sorta the same since they all mostly use the same system (at-will powers/encounter powers/daily), and they've made it so martial characters actually have stuff to do at higher levels. I enjoy it mainly because it is so game-y I suspect, but you can still get some RP out of it. Currently sorta running but not really a Fables (the comic) campaign that's interesting, but I still suck as a DM and don't have as much time to devote to it, as I'd like.
I'm hoping that my goals this semester to actually do stuff will pan out. I have so much more free time, that I should probably be able to do so... I hope.
I just heard from Mike that you're down in the Valley! So are we! Iris and I were going to head out to the fair today, if you have time you should too!
Shit, I was in traffic trying to get to the fair when you posted this. I'll give you a call today, if you're still in the valley, maybe we can hang out or something for a bit.
Nah, I'm in Anchorage now. Iris is getting some medical stuff done, so I need to stay close to her. Sorry I missed you, dude, I should have tried to get in touch sooner.
s'alright, being with Iris is way more important. Pass along my well wishes. We should hang out back in Fairbanks, since I've realized that the first two-three years of college was spent with me being a bit of a righteous prick, so we should grab dinner or something next week or something.

How long have you been playing D&D? I joined my first campaign this summer as an elf wizard and have been having SO MUCH FUN.

I did get my home movie documentary done though, so I don't feel like I wasted the summer.
