DnD ABCs 2: Setting/Deities

So I'm a little behind on the whole writing up the classes, but I felt like doing something a little different. I think every DM wants to eventually create their own world, so that's what this post is about. One thing that's kind of difficult is how much of the deity stuff is merely legend and how much is true. One thing that I kind of like ( Read more... )

I decided to keep the standard names because it was easier than coming up with something myself :P, also I took the basic ideas of each one, but changed a few details (I kind of dislike how most of the unaligned (what was once neutral) deities are essentially good for example). I'm terrible with coming up with names as well.

The roleplaying the pantheon sounds pretty fun actually, I might try something similar, like the old king/queen and advisers or something. The group I'm trying to get to play though, is mostly new to RPing, so that's why I'm trying to not do too many "out there" things... that's even saying I'll get a chance to play when I move back home :P.

No prob with the late post, sorry for not replying too fast. I don't know if I'll do much with the dark pantheon, I'm not a huge fan of good and evil deities, seems a little silly to me, but I might take some of them, just to make things a little more even.

Favored weapons are a little hard to do in 4e, since the math is balanced fairly well, but it's a cool thought, I might make it where PCs who follow a certain god can use their favored weapon as an implement, which could be neat. There are a couple of classes that let you do that (paragon paths and the like, like a bard one that lets you use the bow as an implement, for example).

And thanks for the comments, it's great to know someone's reading besides my brother, and I like more nuanced deities as well.
