actually, the two never met. The comment from matt is from a heated conversation between he and I. The comment from david is from a conversation i had with him over the phone relaying what Matt said.

i would think that if there were absolutes about anything at all, it would be certain morality.

but, even given to the idea that 'matt' was correct. i'd still gut him like fucking fish and throw his ass on the fire for my breakfast if he ever tried to use that line to justify shit to me.

because, whether it is correct or not, its a pussy-man's excuse for any action.

In general, I think most people mean a principle of right and wrong. For example, "It is wrong to try to sleep with your roomates girlfriend."

This was the "absolute" that was in question at the time anyway.

And, beccause I know where you are going with that, I will say that while I believe there to be moral absolutes, I do think they are quite complicated and not neccisarily easy to grasp on the surface - mostly, we see shades of grey when approaching these issues. It is hard to define a rule when we can almost always come up with an exception.
