Leather vs Kevlar

Alright all you motorcycle enthusiasts out there. I've recently switched from a full leather rig to kevlar and I'm very happy with it. I've sworn by leather for years but the freedom of movement and the excellent weather protection from kevlar got me to pick up some from the local cycle shop. My understanding is that properly made kevlar gear is more resistant to abrasion than leather and less prone to degrading over time and wear. For impact padding and armor are more relevant and thus unrelated to the material. The "properly made" is obviously very relevant, but the same applies to leather gear.

So theres nothing to worry about regarding the material itself, product reviews of your particular gear would probably be more useful than any generalization.

My crash jacket was nylon & padding, and it totally saved my ass. I have nothing against leather, but at the same time I just go with whatever's effective.
