Yeah, that was dumb. My mother is all about control. She hasn't had anything to lord over me in years now, and "what's going on with Nana/where she is" seemed to be something that fit the bill :(

Carina is a licensed practical nurse, and casual is per diem I believe, she just gets called in and can accept or reject shifts.

That's awesome your friend Carina could be there for her.

2L from one lung wow! We mostly deal with malignant pleural effusions on Onc, and often they will put in a pleurex catheter so they can be drained intermittently.

I am so grateful she was there.

I have wondered if there is something worse going on (malignancy? I have no idea) but I guess I'm pretty realistic. At 90 and beyond, it's a fair assumption that something could go wrong.
