I've seen DOTM twice now, once in regular format and again in the SUPER-DUPER-I-CAN'T-BELIEVE-IT'S-NOT-REAL-OH-GOD-MY-EYES 3D format. The latter ended up making me somewhat sick halfway through the movie, but the clarity was nicer, I suppose.
When I came home from my first viewing, I wrote a huge write-up. Then LJ ate it, so I suppose it's just not meant to be. Long story short: there were bits I liked, bits I hated, and bits that had me trying desperately to suppress hysterical snickers at the plausibility of it (honey, if 'Screamer was that easy to get rid of, he would've gone offline ages ago, never mind when an untrained little boy came after him with a pointy stick) but overall the explodey-bits were enjoyable.
Carly did not happen. Nope. I have no idea what you're talking about; there was no blonde damsel-in-distress taking her name and trashing it.
One thing the movie did do was inspire me to pick my
Prometheus-verse back up. In any case, I started writing more bits of what will hopefully be an actual fic. Thus far it's really just Alexis going STUDY-STUDY-STUDY and Mikaela ranting on how Men Are Pigs Why Do I Attract The Worst with little bits of but little did we know it would all end soon because I am oh-so-subtle like that.
It's nice to be able to write for something other than work, although I'm hoping that will kickstart my creativity enough that I can get more of the actual game I'm working on out because. My boss will likely start having words if I don't get something more substantial soon. (Okay, or maybe not, but everyone else is producing and I feel bad.)
My transcription job also started up! So now it's part-time at the bookstore, part-time transcribing doctor reports at home (dear Dr. Whatshisface, kindly learn to slow the fuck and down and speak clearly when dictating, thankyousomuch) and part-time writing for The Game. Only 2 out of 3 are paying me right now but The Game is fun anyways and hopefully people will like it enough that I'll get paid later. The artwork is pretty awesome thus far, at least.
With a steadier income, I have finally decided to throw out my piece-of-junk flip phone and get a shiny new iPhone 4. It should arrive next week. Telus is making me add on to my current plan because apparently iPhone means you have to a have a minimum charge of $50/month but IT IS SO WORTH IT. And totally not because I'll be able to read fanfics on the Skytrain without downloading them first. Nope.
Mom and her New Boyfriend she met in Toronto are coming for a visit next week and apparently New Boyfriend especially wants to meet me. Mom says it's because he thinks I'm 'interesting' and she feels we'll get on well together. I think it's because Mom has told him stories and he is deathly afraid that he must get my approval or Eldest Daughter (aka me) will decide he's not worth her (he probably isn't, but then, this is Mom and I doubt anyone is, so) and then will possibly do Terrible Things to him. Mom likes to tell friends of the male persuasion who have yet to meet me (or are just about to meet me) that I eat little boys for breakfast or something, I don't know. But I will meet New Boyfriend and I will decide if something needs to be done or not. After all, being Eldest Daughter has to have some perks, and someone ought to look out for Mom and make sure she doesn't end up with another Father.
Anyways, I must now return to the world of medicine and reports and confidentiality. Or writing. One of the two.
