So we have been looking and looking for a house in Queens. As you know Bob, the plan was for K and I to buy a 2 family house with my brother in Queens so that we would live in one section and he would live in the other. Our requirements were that it be near the Woodside LIRR train station and the subway

To be specific, I am asking a friend who had work done in her Queens co-op a few years back. When she gets back to me I'll let you know.

You probably know this already, but keep an eye on every stage of the work. Don't assume because they know more about drywall, for example, than you do that they'll do it right. You're the judge; you're the expert. Don't back down.
