"Jasper." Bella said when she saw him waiting by her truck, "What are you doing here? Where's Edward?"
"Oh. He had to go hunting. He didn't tell you?"
"No. I haven't seen him all day." She looked sad at this point, and Jasper felt his heart rip apart ever so slightly. I guess she really does love him.
"Oh.. well, I can keep you company?"
"Actually.. I should probably get going." She turned and walked away.
He wanted nothing more than to call after her, but he couldn't. After everything Edward had done for him, he just couldn't.

as a side note, I'm always amused (and very happy) when a person's first fic is uncanon. It's just really awesome.
