So, let's get straight to the point.

Here's the catch: it has to be centered around a non-canon ship (like Alice/Edward, for instance), which is a relationship that could never, ever happen in the books

She reminds him of heat after a blizzard, warming him where he's long since been frozen. All it takes is a hand in his and the ice melts with rapidity, leaving them surrounded by water.

They're soaked to the bone, clothes clinging to flushing skin and fury etched onto pale features that stare at someone even paler.

Not even the scowl deteriorates his mood and it's not a fraction of a second before the halfhearted expression erodes. His smile is contagious like the flu that she's still prone to catching and cold liquid laps around them (her train of thought strays from the runny nose she'll be brandishing tomorrow because he's always telling her to live in the present, in the now).

Her stomach flips for reasons that aren't provided by illness.

His lips align with hers and the lack of warmth never fails to startle her. It's peculiar to think someone so full of life should be long since decayed. The thought is unbidden and she stows it away and allows herself to drown in him, in thisHe helps her

they are beyond adorable. it was new to write something like this, a relationship that isn't so broken. despite the mushiness, i definitely did involve angst. coughsorrycough. the "stop holding your breath" was actually pertaining to more than just that, you know? bella is always holding herself back, always anticipating, always holding her breath. and i wanted to capture that.

i agree. and mushiness was a bad choice of word -- i mean, emmett makes things lighter and makes big things seem less stressful.
