Lauren didn’t remember what the fight was about. Probably it was something stupid. Somehow, it escalated, and before she knew it, he was all over fur and snarling in her face. His paw flashed out of nowhere. An unbearable pain in her left eye, the sick feeling of the floor rising to meet her, then blackness.
She woke up wearing an eye patch, hearing the doctor talking about prosthetics.
Jacob slunk into her hospital room a minute later, hands in pockets, eyes on the floor. He didn’t say much, just dropped to his knees by her bed and held her hands tight enough to break them.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmured finally, muffled into the blankets.
"You're an idiot," she answered.
He never said sorry. She never said I love you.
But it was implicit.

Why is this funny? I usually like Lauren. But this is so in-character for the both of them: I could totally see them reacting this way.

As for this, this is great! I love the concept of it, and it's nice to see Jake lose his cool and do something as dangerous as ripping out an eye.
The last lines are my favourite. :)
