He reaches the clearing and shifts without a thought, recoiling when she appears right in front of him. "I've been waiting," she whispers with the slightest upward tilt of her lips, and advances. He shivers-her lips are hard and cold on his cheek, his mouth, his neck. She's careful,restrained. He breathes shallowly and tries not to move.
She bites without warning, and he jumps violently, scrabbling to get away, but her fingers grip his arms like vices, holding him in place. His keening cries echo through the silent night as she drinks.
When she releases his arms, he slumps to the ground. Her smile is bloody and razor-sharp, but no-one is there to see it.
