Edward doesn't lie. But there are small omissions to the grand truths he tells. "There is no one before you," he says. And this is true. Except.
Tanya moves like a dancer--eyes gold, hair red. Hands slipping down his shirt, breathing against his neck, shifting into him; the awful sound of marble over granite. Everything about her resonates like the whispers in his bones.
"Love me," she says and she doesn't lie either. "Because there is no love. But I've tried everything else." Edward hums a lullaby (one that was all fire and passion and desire) and doesn't make promises he can't keep.
