So, let's get straight to the point.

She remembers those eyes, deliciously golden and glittering; she is swimming. The arch of an eyebrow and the twitch in a cheek, vague details that shape the clay into a statue of perfection. Years later and she can never forget.

There are no memories before this one.

They're destined to be together. She wastes her days away, drifting across the countryside like a whisper of forbidden truth. (No one wants to hear the truth.)

A Southern drawl and it's been so long, she's been looking so long.

(Might as well.)

A distraction.

When she finally finds him, it's exactly as she'd dreamed.

But as she is soon to learn, being right all the time doesn't teach good lessons. (Good lessons are learned by moonlight on the cold damp earth beneath his firm fingertips, bare in body and mind.Pictures of their future flash across her eyelids and she's so satisfied, so certain of the outcome that she doesn't stop to think of the impossible ( ... )

I'm not an Edward/Alice fan, but this is absolutely beautiful. I feel so much sympathy for Alice and how things change when Bella enters the picture and time moves on.

And when Bella enters the scene, an alternate future takes place: a future full of white dresses and blood and you're not wanted anymore.
This line hurts.

it's painful, isn't it? gah angst. we belong to the angst club. free cookies and razorblades to new members.
