BECAUSE I HAD TO.
(Don't be fooled. I'm still on hiatus.)
HEY GUYS. This follows in the vein of my previous
Twilight Uncanon Drabble-A-Thon (no fandom!bashing. Trust me, I hate it too) and follows all those rules.
RULES.

and alghadfghdafg. oh, susan. i love her so so much. i love this fic, and the ending is absolutely amazing. the first paragraph is still my favorite, especially:
that isn't really the problem - she no longer feels comfortable in her own skin.
guh. so pretty.

But that was all before. Now they live in England, and to keep Narnia alive, sometimes he sings for her, the old songs they knew in Narnia, to watch Lucy dance in wool skirts that are too short for a queen, and imagines her smiling without the sadness in her eyes that lives there now.
She calls him Orpheus, to thank him, and he knows, he would stay here forever, in the England that is no longer home, if that's what it took to make her eyes smile again.

But he’d never tell her that; fond words of sweet devotion would never fumble from his aged fangs and chapped lips. Because, no matter how many years passed-no matter how many minutes stretched on endlessly, void of her heart pounding against his, physically and emotionally alike-he knew his fantasies would never accumulate or consummate to his deepest desire.
i realize that's a long quote but ohh, i can't break it up. it's too beautiful.
and, this:
The speeding of his pulse matched the rhythmic spurts of stars in his closed eyes, and he found peace from this overwhelming heartache-if only for a moment.
aslan...and lucy...you've written them so well that i can totally believe it. which is hard, in this scenario :) but i really, really loved this bit. i hope you write more!
