OMG Lois Duncan. I read and re-read (and re-read, and re-read) those very same three books: Down a Dark Hall, Summer of Fear, and Stranger with My Face. They shaped my formative thoughts about the otherworldly. I fear that if I went back and re-read them now, I would be disappointed, so I have not.

I was not as thrilled with some of her other books, like Killing Mr. Griffin, The Twisted Window, or I Know What You Did Last Summer. But those three you mention--my favorites. By far. Astral projection! Witches! Channeling dead people! I also loved Locked in Time--that one has always stuck with me, too.

Did you know that her daughter was murdered back in 1989? Driveby shooting. She wrote a book about the crime investigation. Craziness.

You do not know how much time I spent trying to astral project myself after I read Stranger with My Face.

And yes, I heard about the daughter. How awful.

I loved island of the blue dolphins and NIMH so damn much. I read out both of my copies.
