Unpopular opinion

I haven't watched the latest Torchwood yet. All five episodes are on my DVR, and right now I'm undecided about watching it.

Why? Because I got spoiled the fuck out of it. First on Twitter by the gnashing teeth and dismay of people who downloaded it when it aired on the BBC, and the resulting fucking #hashtag campaign designed not only to spoil ( Read more... )

Dude, you want to talk about fucking stupid? There are people with 'Save (Torchwood spoiler here)' buttons at this con. No joke.

Yeah, Mandy tweeted that she got spoiled that way. Classy. Really classy.

See, I don't know how stupid I consider that. I would expect spoilers for damn near everything to be rampant at a con like that.

At the panels, certainly. But people just walking around, spoiling stuff that hasn't even aired in this country yet? That's pretty selfish, I think.

Er. I hope I didn't. I didn't think I posted anything specific enough to.

Meanwhile, I dare ask -- what is Torchwood? I realized last night that whenever you or others have mentioned it, I was thinking of Deadwood. It suddenly occurred to me they are not the same.

Should I check this show out? Would you recommend it to me?

Have you watched any of the new Doctor Who? Torchwood is in the same universe (it's an anagram of Doctor Who, actually!). It's been called "Doctor Who for grown-ups" because it's darker than DW.

Anyway, Torchwood takes place in Cardiff rather than all over the universe like Doctor Who. Torchwood is the name of a kind of supernatural special ops group -- they deal will all the weird invasions from outer space or underground or other dimensions or what have you. The team is led by Captain Jack Harkness, who is scorchingly hot and sleeps with everyone. There is a great deal of boykissy (and girls, too) in this show. Pretty much everyone is some degree of bisexual.

I've really enjoyed it, at least the first two seasons. This third season ("Children of Earth") ended horribly bleakly, however. I haven't watched yet but like I said I got spoiled. There are some cheesy plots, but there's a lot of good stuff in there. If it's on Netflix, get the first disc of S1 and give it a try. :)

It's a total bummer that all the spoiling happened, but you should still watch it. It was incredible.

I've got it on my DVR and I'm thinking about it. I just know I'm going to be so upset with what happens! D:

Well, if you watch it, you could find out you don't find it as bad as some of us do, and be soothed. Or, you could find out you think it's just as awful as some of us think it is, and be comforted by knowing you aren't alone in having a very low opinion of it. 8-)

I was probably at fault for not cutting enough of my reactions. I'm so sorry. :( I did edit my posts later.
